Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and actor Rhea Seehorn will collaborate on a new Apple TV Plus program. The Breaking Bad Better Call Saul prequel series, which Gilligan and Peter Gould co-created, was the first project Seehorn and Gilligan worked on together.
A flawless conclusion to Better Call Saul’s six-season run that allowed the character and the world of Breaking Bad a contented farewell was ultimately delivered in August.
Fans have been curious about Gilligan’s next move. They have expressed some anticipation for another Breaking Bad spin-off because of the praise for the season finale.
According to Deadline, Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn have collaborated on a new show dubbed a “mixed genre drama and grounded.”
Gilligan says he’s taking a “vacation from creating antiheroes” with this project, implying that Seehorn’s character would be nobler than her past protagonists.
“After 15 years, I figured it was time to take a break from writing antiheroes… and who’s more heroic than the brilliant Rhea Seehorn? It’s long before she had her own show, and I feel lucky to work on it with her”. “And what nice symmetry to be reunited with Zack Van Amburg, Jamie Erlicht, and Chris Parnell! Jamie and Zack were the first two people to say yes to Breaking Bad all those years ago. They’ve built a great team at Apple. My wonderful, longtime partners at Sony Pictures Television and I are excited to be in business with them.”
Although Gilligan doesn’t say much about the project itself, the description of it as a “genre drama” may imply that Gilligan will return to the world of crime.
Gilligan desired to break the pattern and depart from his earlier works, which featured more criminal characters. Hence, it’s feasible that the show may adopt a different genre for Gilligan.
