The highly-anticipated sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has unveiled a new trailer. The upcoming film is the first half of a new crossover story that concludes with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
The trailer showcases Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) being taken to the Spider-Verse, a multiversal web merging every spider-themed superhero in multiple timelines. Instead of being confined to their respective dimensions, all these Spider-People unite in the Spider-Verse to contain threats that endanger every timeline.
Unlike Spot, who seems like a villain, Miles will also be fighting the Spider-Force, a team of Spider-People that manages the Multiverse using questionable methods. This results in a Spider-People Civil War, with Miles taking a stand for his beliefs.
The trailer also features Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099 (voiced by Oscar Isaac), a pragmatical and permanently-angry vigilante from the future. Across the Spider-Verse pays homage to various iterations of Spider-Man, including those from comic books, video games, and animated series.
Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry, and Luna Lauren Vélez are among the cast members lending their voices to the film. The screenwriters and producers of Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, are returning for both sequels.
