Marvel Studios is expected to announce the production of sequels to Eternals and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in a matter of days.
According to a not-so-reliable industry insider KC Walsh, both sequels have been added to Marvel Studios’ slate of upcoming projects. The addition of these sequels was unexpected, especially in the case of Eternals, which was pitched as a one-shot film with a definite ending.
A sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was more a matter of “when” than “if,” but the same couldn’t be said for Eternals. The film hadn’t done well at the box office, and public opinion wasn’t favorable either. Despite this, the cliffhanger ending led fans to believe that Marvel Studios had a sequel in mind.
Additionally, there is talk of a new film dedicated to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, with Marvel Studios has already confirmed it, according to the insider. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, released in 2022, was a success, and the post-credit scene left fans in suspense.
However, this information should be taken with a grain of salt until Marvel Studios officially announces these projects. Only Shang-Chi 2 has been confirmed, having been announced in 2021 but not included in the projects for Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU.
Regardless, the production calendar for Marvel Studios is getting fuller with these upcoming sequels, and fans can look forward to more action-packed superhero films in the near future.
