Arriving in theaters on July 21, the highly anticipated film directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Ryan Gosling is generating considerable buzz. Margot Robbie has shed light on the viral foot scene featured in the Barbie trailer, which sparked many conversations on social media.
In the opening shot, Barbie’s feet, donning iconic pink heels, gracefully tread before she elegantly slips out of them, unveiling the doll’s distinctive high-heel-shaped feet.
As fans flooded social media with inquiries about the scene’s execution and the authenticity of Robbie’s feet, the actress took the opportunity to set the record straight during a recent interview with Fandango.
Robbie confirmed that her feet were featured in the scene, emphasizing her commitment to performing her inserts. “Please let me do all my own things,” she conveyed to directors, driven by the desire to maintain a genuine connection with her on-screen character.
Margot Robbie Reveals Secret Behind Viral ‘Barbie’ High Heel Scene
The actress went on to describe the shooting process for the scene, highlighting the deliberate steps taken to ensure her balance and the shoes’ stability. Robbie confidently walked up with approximately eight takes, utilizing double-sided tape to secure the shoes and adhesive bits on the floor, allowing her to slip her feet out smoothly, “It probably took about eight takes, wasn’t that many,” she shared.
Maintaining her equilibrium by holding onto a bar above the camera, she accomplished the scene without the aid of a harness or similar contraptions. “They are my feet. I walked up, they had little sticky bits on the floor, like double-sided tape, for the shoes so they wouldn’t come off so that I could get my feet out of them. I was holding on to a bar, but that’s it. I wasn’t in a harness or anything like that.”
Expressing her aversion to watching movies and recognizing that certain body parts don’t belong to her, she insisted on being fully involved in such details. “I always try to do my own inserts. I don’t like when I watch a movie and I know it’s not my hands. I hate that so much. I always say to the director, ‘Please let me know my own things.’ I don’t like knowing that I didn’t do them.”
