It is now official after so many months of rumors, chat, and a glimmer of hope. After 17 years, Keanu Reeves will make a comeback to play the exorcist and DC demonologist John Constantine, who he first played in Francis Lawrence’s 2005 film. For this new project, Akiva Goldsman will handle scriptwriting and directing alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella.
Despite having a $100 Million budget, Constantine had earned nearly $ 230 million by the time it arrived at the theatre. The implication here could have been that a sequel would be released soon.
It wasn’t simply kindness that persuaded Warner Bros to start shooting the movie; increased enthusiasm for the film was shown by both fans and Keanu Reeves himself.
Obviously, we don’t yet know anything about the story or the cast of characters. Still, it seems probable that, at the very least, Peter Stormare’s fantastic Satan will make a comeback.
However, the same Francis Lawrence and Akiva Goldsman had disclosed some ridiculous ideas for a potential Constantine sequel at a panel at the Comic-Con Home of that year. Maybe they might appear in this now official new project.
