Fans of The Punisher can rejoice as Jon Bernthal is officially returning as Frank Castle for the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have long awaited the news, and the announcement has finally been made that Bernthal will reprise his role in the new series.
Bernthal has become a familiar face in showbiz, having previously starred in The Punisher and appeared in The Walking Dead. He has expressed his emotional attachment to the character of Frank Castle and his desire to return as The Punisher, saying that the role is “in his blood” and “in his bones.”
The actor shared a photo of himself in character from the second season of The Punisher, which showed Castle officially adopting the moniker of The Punisher and wearing the iconic skull logo.
Bernthal’s return to the role has long been rumored, and he has always maintained that if the call to return came, he would be ready and do everything in his power to make sure the fans got the version of the character they deserve.
Bernthal joins Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as the third person to return from Netflix’s “DefendersVerse” for Daredevil: Born Again. They will be joined by MCU newbies Michael Gandolfini and Nikki M. James. Margarita Levieva and Sandrine Holt. The series is set to be released in the spring of 2024 and will be available on Disney+.
