Hugh Jackman set the internet ablaze with his revelation about his return as Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie.
Recently in an interview, Jackman also hinted at a “dual role” for Wolverine in the film, which means we might see multiple versions of the mutant on screen. “Yes, it will even be a dual role. Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years, we have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer.”
Although it’s not yet apparent how Wolverine will tie into the more prominent Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s reasonable to presume that some reality-jumping hijinks will be used to integrate the X-Men into the main storyline.
With movies & Tv shows like Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania already introducing multiple variants of the same person, it’s not surprising that we’ll be seeing different versions of Wolverine as well.
Fans have been speculating about who will take on the role of Wolverine in the MCU ever since Marvel Studios acquired the rights to the X-Men. Names like Taron Egerton, Zac Efron, and Daniel Radcliffe have been considered potential candidates.
However, it remains to be seen whether Jackman will play Wolverine in any other MCU properties beyond Deadpool 3 or whether his appearance in the film will pave the way for another actor to take on the iconic role.
