Studio Canal has released the first photo from the movie Back to Black, depicting Amy Winehouse’s life. It features English actress Marisa Abela as the late singer, and the resemblance is remarkable.
The biopic Back to Black, depicting the life of the late Amy Winehouse, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 27, does not currently have a release date as filming has not yet begun, according to StudioCanal, the film’s production company. The movie will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and is expected to focus on Winehouse’s most celebrated single, “Back to Black.”

The film Back to Black will follow the career of Amy Winehouse, from her early beginnings in the 1980s to her rise to fame, and will likely also address the issues that led to her untimely death. Matt Greenhalgh, known for writing the biopic film Control, the film about Ian Curtis, has worked on the screenplay.
However, if Back to Black does really hit theatres in the latter half of 2023, it won’t be the first time we see Marisa Abela as the lead. In fact, the Margot Robbie-starring movie Barbie, which will be released this summer, also includes the English actress.
