Prime Video Australia has announced an official remake of The Office with a twist. This time, the series will be led by a female protagonist, a concept that is pretty common nowadays.
Set to premiere in 2024, fans can expect the same take on the workplace comedy, but with Standup comedian Felicity Ward as the lead role, Ward will be playing a capable manager of Flinley Craddick, a packaging company.
For the first time in The Office’s rich history, a female lead will take charge, a departure from the iconic portrayals by Ricky Gervais as David Brentin in the original Office and Steve Carell as Michael Scott in the US remake of the show.
Embracing the modern era of remote work, the series will explore Howard’s challenges as she strives to unite her “work family” after receiving news of a corporate decision to close their branch and transition to a work-from-home setup.
Joining Ward in this stellar ensemble are talented actors, including Edith Poor, Steen Raskopoulos, Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Shari Sebbens, Pallavi Sharda, Raj Labade, Susan Ling Young, Lucy Schmit, and Firass Dirani. Together, they promise to bring laughter and memorable moments to the small screen.
The announcement, however, received a wave of dissatisfaction from fans of the show as the news spread across the internet.
