Donnie Yen, the actor who played the character of Caine in the “John Wick” franchise, recently expressed his openness to the idea of a spin-off centered around his character.
Speaking with Variety, Yen said he would “love to do a ‘John Wick’ spin-off centered on Caine.” However, he also acknowledged that while there are always “talks” in Hollywood, the likelihood of the project happening remains uncertain.
“John Wick 4” marked the end of the saga of Keanu Reeves’ character. Still, the film’s post-credits scene and storyline opened up the possibility of introducing new characters in future installments.
Caine, the blind hitman and friend of John Wick was a fan favorite and a potential candidate to continue the franchise. Yen’s interest in reprising the role only adds to the excitement among fans.
Yen also took the opportunity to praise Keanu Reeves, calling him a “super nice guy” who loves martial arts and is always willing to share his experience. The two actors had a chance to interact on set during the filming of “John Wick 4,” Director Chad Stahelski recalled being impressed with Yen’s athleticism.
While filming a museum scene, Stahelski revealed that he had a choreographed fight sequence involving nunchucks that showcased the skills of both Yen and Reeves. Stahelski was particularly amazed by Yen’s speed, calling him an “athletic machine.”

Peacock released the first trailer for their upcoming series, John Wick’s Prequel, The Continental, which will be available on the streaming platform in September.
The series is set in gritty 1970s New York City, where Winston is drawn into the dark underworld of the hotel and must confront a past that he thought he had left behind. He navigates through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a dangerous attempt to seize the hotel, where he will eventually ascend to his future throne.
