Dermot Mulroney, who had a notable cameo in the popular ’90s sitcom Friends, recently opened up about reuniting with his former co-star Courteney Cox in the upcoming horror movie Scream VI.
Mulroney will be playing Detective Bailey in the film, set in New York City, and features Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega in starring roles—Cox, who will be reprising her role as news reporter Gale Weathers.
Mulroney spoke to Parade about his experience reuniting with Cox on set, saying that it was “so fun” to work with her again. The two actors discussed their time on Friends, and Mulroney revealed that they both agreed that his three episodes on the show were some of the best.

Mulroney also admitted that it was strange to be working with Cox again after all these years. Although Mulroney’s character on Friends, Gavin Mitchell, only appeared in three episodes during the show’s ninth season, he quickly became a fan favorite for his quick wit and humor.
Mulroney revealed that he turned down the opportunity to appear in three more episodes due to scheduling conflicts, but Gavin’s popularity has endured over the years.
“It was so fun to talk to Courteney because I appeared with her on Friends. We together decided that the three episodes that I did were by far the most favorite of all the series, which seems weird that we’d then be in a movie together and get to talk about that. But it’s amazing. I was so proud of that designation, even if it was sort of self-ascribed.”
Cox, who played Monica Geller on Friends, has previously spoken about her difficulty remembering her time on the show, but Mulroney left a lasting impression on her. The two actors’ reunion on the set of Scream VI was undoubtedly a sweet and nostalgic moment for both of them.
Scream VI will hit theaters soon, and Friends and the horror franchise fans will undoubtedly be excited to see Mulroney and Cox back on the big screen together. With a talented cast and a thrilling storyline, Scream six promises to be a must-see movie event.
