It has been three years since, with the release of Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans ended his reign as Captain America. However, fans have not yet resigned themselves to Steve Rogers’ absence in the MCU. They would like to see him return, especially now that everything seems possible with the opening of the Multiverse.
Speaking with Comicbook at a press event for Lightyear, the film in which he plays Buzz Lightyear, Chris Evans was asked if he planned to return as Cap. The idea would be to show Steve’s adventure in returning the Power Gems to their place after Tony Stark’s snap. To which he said:
It seems to be something people would like to see – Evans said. I don’t want to disappoint anyone, but it was a great ride and I’m so happy about it… it’s so precious to me. It should be perfect. It would be scary to go touch something that I care so much, and that role means so much to me, so revisiting it would be a difficult task.
Though he already made it very clear that Captain America is a closed chapter for him:
It was a nice trip from which we came out on such a high note that it would be risky to see it again in my opinion. It was a good experience and I think it’s best to leave it as it is. It’s not a definitive no, but it’s not an enthusiastic yes either. I think Cap did something very difficult to get to the end, and I think theirs was a good job as they made him complete his journey.
