With Darren Aronofsky, Brendan Fraser made a comeback on the big screen. He got a standing ovation for his six-minute performance during his presentation at the Venice Film Festival, and specialist critics praised the cast. The actor made a comeback on the top pages with The Whale.
The actor expressed his anger at the Golden Globes in a People magazine interview. Fraser was subjected to all Philip Berk’s abuse during his time as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s president.
“I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I respect the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. It’s because of the history I have with them. And my mother did not raise a hypocrite. They can call me in many ways, but not like that ,” he said.
The reason Brendan Fraser won’t attend Golden Globes
Fraser had disclosed that Berk had mistreated him in 2003. Everything took place at a luncheon hosted by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Berk mentions that incident in his memoirs but notes that it was “just a squeeze on the buttocks.”
Although Fraser told his version: “He wrapped his left hand around me, grabbed my bottom and touched my butt with one of his fingers, which he moved in circles. I felt sick. I thought I was going to cry. ”
The actor acknowledged that this caused him to become anxious. And his immediate response was to push Berk’s hand away and leave the hotel silently. I felt sick, like a little child, lumping in my throat. I thought I was going to cry as if someone had thrown invisible paint over me,” he said.
In addition, he maintained: “In my head, at least, there was something that had been stolen from me. The phone stops ringing in your run and you start to wonder why. There are many reasons, but was this one of them? I think so . ”
And she added: “Am I still afraid? Of course. I need to say something. Of course. Have I wanted to do it many, many times? Of course. Have I prevented myself from doing it? Definitely, and maybe I’m overreacting in terms of what happened. I only know my truth and what I have just told you.
