Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon Was Inspired By Classic Gangster Film
In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Rocket Raccoon, voiced by Bradley Cooper, will seek out his origins and confronts his past. Cooper revealed his preparation for the role involved taking inspiration from one of the most iconic movies ever, Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas.
Cooper confessed that his interpretation of the bizarre and hilarious character of Rocket Raccoon drew from Joe Pesci’s portrayal of the mobster Tommy DeVito.
Although he took inspiration from Goodfellas, Cooper emphasized that it was only a simple idea. The Hollywood star acknowledged that it would be out of character for Rocket to turn evil or become a gangster.
James Gunn Says ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Will Make You Cry
James Gunn acknowledged that emotional resonance had been a central theme in the Guardians series, and the upcoming installment is no exception. In an interview with Collider, the director hinted at the film’s emotional intensity, advising audiences to prepare themselves for a rollercoaster of feelings. While some may shed tears of sorrow, there will also be joy throughout the film.
“It depends on how easily you cry. I know that there’s been a lot of people crying in the screening, so I guess people cry. There’s a lot of crying happening. But it’s not all sad crying, there’s a lot of happy crying in the movie, there’s a lot of joy in the film. You know, everybody talks about the emotion, and it is emotional, but there’s a lot of joy.”
