Amber Heard is set to star in the highly anticipated sequel to “Aquaman,” titled “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” Despite rumors she was cut out of the Film.
The film’s first trailer was showcased at CinemaCon, an annual movie-theater convention, during a Warner Bros. presentation and gave fans a brief glimpse of Heard’s character, Mera, battling underwater.
Although the actress didn’t have any dialogue in the trailer, her inclusion in the film is significant, given the tumultuous legal battle between her and her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The couple made headlines for accusing each other of domestic violence and defamation, leading to a high-profile trial that impacted their careers, mainly that of Amber Heard. While Depp emerged victorious, the fallout from the problem continued to plague both parties.
Mera first appeared in the 2017 film “Justice League” before becoming an essential character in the 2018 hit “Aquaman,” where she played the love interest of Jason Momoa’s character.
However, during her defamation trial with Depp, Heard claimed that her role in the sequel was reduced, and she had to fight hard to remain in the movie.
The new film focuses more on Aquaman’s half-brother, Orm Marius, played by Patrick Wilson, rather than his relationship with Mera, a significant part of the first movie’s plot. Fans of the franchise eagerly anticipate the sequel, set to release on December 20.
Heard’s spokesperson responded to rumors that the actress had been removed from the sequel by dismissing them as unfounded and insensitive. It remains to be seen what kind of role Mera will play in the film, and fans are looking forward to finding out when the movie is released.
