Michelle Yeoh says Jackie Chan texted her after the success of Everything Everywhere All At Once, Saying: Congratulations on your movie, but did you know your boys came to see me first?
In “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” Michelle Yeoh portrays the character of Evelyn Wang, a Chinese-American immigrant who runs a Laundromat with her husband. The couple faces an IRS audit, but Evelyn is suddenly drawn into a parallel universe where she must confront Jobu Tupaki to protect her reality from falling apart. Yeoh brings to life the ordinary woman who transforms into a superhero, adding depth and nuance to the character.

Jackie Chan also said that the part was initially given to him by Everything Everywhere All At Once filmmakers Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan. Michelle Yeoh thanked him for declining the part after she was eventually granted the chance.
Michelle Yeoh said that when the directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once set out to make the film, her character was intended for a guy in a CNN interview with Christiane Amanpour. Since it was originally intended that Jackie Chan would play the protagonist and the actress herself would portray his wife, the roles were entirely flipped in the movie.
“The roles were completely reversed. I remember Jackie texting me and saying, ‘Congratulations! You know your boys came to see me first,” Yeoh said in an interview on CNN. “I’m like, ‘Thank you bro, you did me a huge favour’,” she said.
