Amber Heard has agreed to end her long-standing legal battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp. The agreement must complete the appeal procedure of the lawsuit in defamation which opposes the actor, her ex-husband. By agreeing to pay her ex-husband $1 million, Heard decided to halt the appeal process in the defamation action she is up against Johnny Depp in the United States. The 36-year-old actress first challenged the June judgment that ordered her to pay $10 million to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor.
Amber Heard wrote a lengthy note on her Instagram, blaming the US legal system for failing to give her the justice she deserved.
Regarding this money received from Amber, the lawyers of actor Johnny Depp, Camille Vasquez, said in a statement that he will donate this amount because money never matters to Johnny Depp. According to Variety’s report, the actress was ordered to pay the amount after a six-week trial in Virginia earlier this year.
The “Washington Post” piece that Amber Heard wrote in 2018 that referred to her as “a public figure symbolising domestic abuse” without mentioning her ex-husband is what sparked the legal dispute between the two ex-spouses.
To recover 50 million dollars in damages, Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife for defamation, claiming that this text had ruined his career and reputation. After six weeks of deliberations, the jury in Fairfax, a suburb of Washington, Johnny Depp, was given the ultimate win in the trial.
