Based on the 1999 novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde is a brand-new Netflix movie directed by Andrew Dominik. Ana de Armas portrays Marilyn Monroe in the film. The production, which garnered a 14-minute standing ovation at the 79th Venice International Film Festival, is devoted to Marilyn Monroe’s life.
The film is based on the 1999 novel of the same name authored by Joyce Carol Oates, a famous writer, poet, dramatist, and American Academy member. Despite getting compelling acclaim at the Venice Film Festival, it earned mixed reviews from critics.
The author recently discussed the piece on her Twitter page, highlighting that while it was undoubtedly not created for a large audience, it is nonetheless really intriguing.
Blonde is a very divisive film project for both critics and viewers, between those who have defined it as a courageous masterpiece and those who have highlighted the continuous repetition of sexually explicit scenes that got people talking. There is no doubt that the writer has understood this fundamental point.
I think it was/is a brilliant work of cinematic art obviously not for everyone. surprising that in a post#MeToo era the stark exposure of sexual predation in Hollywood has been interpreted as “exploitation.” surely Andrew Dominik meant to tell Norma Jeane’s story sincerely.
