The seventh episode of “The House of the Dragon,” which is now nearing the conclusion of the first season, featured Aemond Targaryen, undoubtedly, as one of its key characters. It shows that little Aemond can control the Dragon Vhagar by conversing with him in High Valyrian, using the term ‘Lykiri.’
The lone Dragon from the reign of Aegon the Conqueror, Vhagar, is the biggest and oldest Dragon alive. Keeping in mind, that Vhagar will be Aemond’s turning point in Dance of the Dragons.
Being the only one of his brothers and “cousins,” the offspring of Laenor and Rhaenyra, who does not have his Dragon, unpretentiously irritated Aemond, the youngest son of Alicent and King Viserys. In this last episode, he decides to take matters into his own hands and travel in quest of a dragon to tame.
Because of this, in episode 7, when Aemond goes out to spend the night with the Dragon Vhagar to grow closer to her, he can make her feel better and get on her with just a few words.
What does ‘Lykiri’ mean in High Valyrian?
The helpless young man witnesses the Dragon open its jaws and reveal a smoldering flame, yet it is enough to cause him to utter the Valyrian word for “calm down,” “lykiri.” After finishing his taming her with the word “dohaeras,” which means “obey,” he commands her to “fly” by pronouncing the word “Soves.”
In George R. R. Martin’s Book, “Fire and Blood,” each member of a Targaryen Family has a Dragon. Some of these Dragons will be ridden by the main characters in the conflict known as “The Dance of the Dragons.”
Aemond, who claims ownership of Vhagar after Rhaenyra’s children caused him to lose an eye for calling them “bastards,” will be the case. Though for Aemond, it is a price worth paying, Since he now has the enormous Dragon.
