The new Game of Thrones prequel and spin-off series, House of the Dragon, is inspired by George RR Martin’s book A Song of Ice and Fire, an anthology volume devoted only to the adventures of the Targaryen dynasty.
We have already seen hints of the civil war between Rhaenyra and Aegon, which will take place in the future and be fought for control of Westeros. The realization is set around 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones.
Multiple actresses portray Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, namely Milly Alcock and Emily Carey for the younger versions and Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke for the older ones. This is because the program covers several years.
In a Newsweek interview, Carey, who was then 17 and is now 19, admitted that she was afraid of the Intimate scenes since she had previously finished Game of Thrones and had seen several violent and horrific personal relationships.
In particular, the actress’s connection with Paddy Considine, 47, who on stage portrays her husband, King Viserys Targaryen, made her nervous in real life. Though, Her intimacy coordinator helped her to relax further since she felt comfortable telling him everything about her.
We have a fantastic intimacy coordinator. I was only 17 years old when I first read the script involving intimate scenes. I felt it was a brilliant strategy to portray any potentially personal moments, such as the one when he bathes the monarch, as scenes starring that guy. But I was afraid since I hadn’t yet met Paddy, I didn’t know how comfortable he was, and I didn’t know how easy filming those scenes were. I was a little concerned since the only thing I could picture was a 47-year-old man with me.
