Recently, a musician named Maria Elena Rios took to the popular platform Twitter to make grave accusations against Huerta, alleging repeated acts of s*xual abuse.
This revelation has sent shockwaves through the passionate Black Panther fan community, who held the actor in the highest regard for his exceptional performance. However, Huerta has swiftly taken a bold stance, denying these unfortunate allegations.
In a formal statement delivered exclusively to Variety, Huerta firmly denies the claims of s*xual abuse directed at him. He clarifies that he and Maria Elena Rios were romantically involved for a significant period, and their relationship was marked by genuine consent, affection, warmth, and mutual support until its natural conclusion.
However, Huerta reveals that Rios began distorting the nature of their interactions, privately and within their shared circle of acquaintances after their separation.
Huerta candidly shares, “About a year ago, I dated Elena for several months, It was entirely consensual at all times, as countless others can attest. And throughout it was a loving, warm and mutually supportive relationship. After it ended, however, Elena began to misrepresent our interactions both privately and in front of groups of mutual friends.
“As a result, a few months ago, I engaged a legal team to commence the appropriate actions to protect my reputation and refute these irresponsible and false accusations that can cause great prejudice and damage,” he continued. “Although I am by no means perfect, I know that these allegations are simply untrue. And while I will always work to improve myself, I need to contest claims that are both false and offensive.”
To safeguard his reputation and counter these baseless and defamatory allegations, Huerta enlisted the guidance of legal professionals several months ago. While acknowledging his imperfections and recognizing the need for personal growth, he staunchly asserts that the accusations brought against him are unequivocally false.
According to reports from Variety, Marvel Studios has yet to make a public statement in response to the s*xual abuse allegations against Huerta. Consequently, whether Huerta will maintain his involvement in future Marvel Cinematic Universe endeavors in light of these troubling allegations remains unanswered.
