Entertainment Tonight recently disclosed that Keanu Reeves accomplished 90% of the stunts in the fourth installation of the John Wick franchise, which marked the end of his portrayal of the iconic hitman.
How Keanu Reeves did 90% of his stunts for JOHN WICK 4
The movie showcases nearly three hours of incredible stunts and breathtaking action, with Reeves almost always on the screen. Despite the presumed assistance of stunt performers, Reeves revealed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he executed 90% of the stunts.
Reeves underwent a rigorous 12-week training regimen to attain the necessary preparation and skill set, including proficiency in tools like the nunchaku.
In a recent interview on Jake’s Takes, the director of the John Wick films, Chad Stahelski, disclosed how he determines which scenes require a stunt performer and which locations Reeves can handle.
He evaluates the actor’s abilities and comfort level, and if he deems him capable, then it is no longer a stunt but a specialized ability. Stahelski praised Reeves’ stunt skills and admired his dedication to perfecting every aspect of his acting roles.
“Some people’s capabilities exceed their limitations. Like Keanu, as far as martial arts choreography and driving goes, he is better in a car that I ever was as a stunt double. He does more choreography and executes the memorization of the moves, safety with the gun thing, better than I would say 95-98 percent of any stunt person I have ever seen.”
