Michael Mando, famous for his role-playing Nacho Varga in AMC’s Better Call Saul, has reportedly been fired from Apple TV+‘s forthcoming Ridley Scott drama, Sinking Spring.
According to THR, Mando was dismissed from the series, which also features Brian Tyree Henry, due to an “on-set incident” with one of his co-stars. The other participant in the incident has not been identified yet. Ving Rhames, Kate Mulgrew, and Marin Ireland also star in the show alongside Henry.
Wagner Moura will replace Mando in the series. He will take over the role of Manny Cespedes, a long-time friend of Ray, Henry’s character. Moura has recently been featured in Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Shining Girls, and the extended Narcos universe of shows.
Why was Michael Mando fired from Sinking Spring?
The details of the “incident” are currently undisclosed, although it is referred to as a “clash” by some sources. Following the event, producers attempted to “smooth things out,” but Mando was ultimately removed from the show. Neither Mando nor Apple have commented publicly on his dismissal from the eight-episode series.
Before his role in Saul, Mando played a supporting role in Orphan Black opposite Tatiana Maslany and had a memorable part in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He is also known to gamers for his role as the psychopathic killer Vaas in Far Cry 3.
