Spider-Man Noir: Amazon announces the live-action series. Spider-Man Noir is set to come to life thanks to Amazon and Sony.
Amazon is currently developing a live-action Spider-Man Noir series, as exclusively reported by Variety. The series, which is still without an official title, is written and executive produced by Oren Uziel, who has previously worked on projects such as “The Lost City,” “Mortal Kombat,” and “21 Jump Street.”
About Spider-Man Noir
Based on the comic series published by Marvel Comics from 2009 to 2010, the series is set in New York in the 1930s during the Great Depression and follows an alternative version of Spider-Man. The comics exist in a separate universe, referred to as Marvel Noir, and are disconnected from the rest of the Marvel universe.
The character of Spider-Man Noir has appeared previously in the animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man,” voiced by Milo Ventimiglia, and in the film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” voiced by Nicolas Cage.
Spider-Man Noir untitled series is currently in development
Uziel is developing the series with the award-winning producers of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, all of whom will serve as executive producers. The studio behind the project is Sony Pictures Television, with whom Lord and Miller have a deal.
In the series, Peter Parker, who works at the Daily Bugle to pay for college tuition, discovers the corruption and underworld that grip New York City, controlled by Norman Osborn, aka the Goblin. After being bitten by a mystical spider, Peter gains powers from a Spider God and uses them to defend the city from corruption and evil.
This series will be the first live-action representation of Spider-Man Noir. Amazon has confirmed that the previously announced spin-off series “Silk: Spider Society,” with Angela Kang as showrunner, is also progressing well.
